The Predators issued a statement Tuesday saying that they were taking the step of placing forward Alexander Radulov under suspension . Radulov is the 22 year old forward who bolted for the Continental Hockey League (KHL) in Russia . Radulov still has one year left on his NHL deal with Nashville and no solution is in sight ...The Canucks and Senators got together on a trade with the Sens sending D Lawrence Nycholat west in exchange for forward Ryan Shannon . Nycholat is a 29 year old journeyman on his 4th team having scored 8 points in 31 career NHL games . Shannon is a slight forward with tremendous speed but was slowed last season by knee problems .Shannon is really more of a tweener as he does not score enough to play on any team's top 2 lines and isn't defensively adept enough to be a third or fourth liner /checker . With Ottawa getting Picard and Kuba last week in the Meszaros trade they must have felt that Nycholat had lost his spot on the depth chart ...Congratulations to Mike Gartner who deservedly will have his jersey retired in a ceremony against Toronto on December 28th . Gartner was one of the more underrated scorers in NHL history having at least 30 goals a season in 15 straight seasons.
