Sept. 2 Notebook
Vincent Lecavalier is back working out according to the Tampa Tribune . Lecavalier suffered a torn (labrum) muscle in his right shoulder late last season. The hope is that "the Franchise" fresh off signing his lifetime contract with the Bolts this summer, will be ready for the start of the regular season . At this point it looks much less certain that he'll take part in any preseason games either in the Czech. Republic or in North America ....A report in the Columbus Post Dispatch suggests that forward Fredrik Modin is completely healthy after a 2007/08 season that saw him miss 59 games with groin, shoulder, and concussion problems . He currently looks to play on the second line alongside Derick Brassard and Raffi Torres. Keep Modin on your fantasy radar for late in drafts as those looking only at last year will dismiss him ...The Bryan McCabe to Florida trade was to be completed on Tuesday . The Leafs were to receive defenceman Mike Van Ryn in exchange for McCabe and an undisclosed draft pick. The trade had to wait until after September 1 so that the Leafs could pay him a bonus due while he was still their property ...Teemu Selanne will be returning to the Ducks this fall, but cannot do so yet as the team needs to shed some salary to create enough cap space and will attempt to do so by dealing defenseman Mathieu Schneider .
