* 2 Game weeks belong to New Jersey and Washington in the East and Phoenix, San Jose and St Louis in the West .
* As this was written it was reported in the Washington Post that Alexander Ovechkin would not be with the team at least for the start of the week against Nashville . Ovechkin was returning to Russia to see his ailing grandfather . Being that the Caps only have a 2 game week it might be wise to bench Ovechkin (the Caps play Saturday in Buffalo and it's unclear if he'll be back by then)as well as some of your marginal Cap forwards .
* Roll with all your Rangers this week - three games with the opposition being the Islanders , Atlanta, and the Leafs it looks to be a very offensively friendly schedule .
* Edmonton is rolling to start the year and a 4 game week where they get Boston , Nashville, Carolina and the Flyers looks very enticing .
* I am on record as being very high on a number of the young Coyotes . I would probably be inclined to bench most of them this week as they get the Pens and the Wild- two teams that should keep their goal total light for the week .
* Despite the better play this weekend from the Flyers, I would still bench both Biron and Niittymaki this week . The team is allowing an awful lot of chances and in a 3 game week I have no idea which guy will get the two starts and who gets the one .
* Roll with the Wild Niklas Backstrom again . Minnesota is playing 4 games and even with backup Josh Harding finally healthy (eye) look for Backstrom to get at least 3 starts .
* Ditto for Henrik Lundqvist of the Rangers . Assuming your league counts wins, he has a chance to record at least 2 this coming week (Islanders, Thrashers, Leafs).
